About Neat

Founded in 2019 in Oslo by former experts from Tandberg and Cisco, Neat has had rapid growth in video collaboration and Microsoft Teams devices.
In 2021, Neat partnered with Microsoft as a Microsoft Teams Rooms provider and quickly certified a range of devices. Neat has been particularly successful with all-in-one meeting bars and boards with sleek, user-friendly designs that emphasise simplicity, aesthetics, and intelligence.
Neat has been a big supporter of the community and an Empowering.Cloud Benefactor from day 1. Neat Director, Global Technical Sales and Alliances and Microsoft MVP Graham Walsh, is also heavily engaged in the community with his blog and as part of the monthly Microsoft Teams Devices Ask Me Anything.
The Microsoft Teams devices space is highly competitive, with numerous options available. We track and report on all the certified devices and provide community research comparisons (Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android Bar Comparison, Microsoft Teams Panels Comparison). In this blog, we showcase the Neat Microsoft Teams portfolio and highlight some of its unique features.
What Makes Neat Devices Unique?
Before reviewing the portfolio, let’s review some of the unique features that distinguish Neat and its devices.
Neat Design Philosophy
Neat's core design philosophy is built around bridging the digital divide—creating virtual meeting experiences that feel as natural and intuitive as in-person conversations.
Simplicity Meets Sophistication - Every Neat device embodies an elegant, minimalist approach that eliminates unnecessary complexity. The designs feature clean lines, clutter-free builds, and thoughtful engineering details, such as passive cooling systems, integrated power supplies, and minimal cabling requirements. This commitment to refined aesthetics has earned recognition through prestigious Red Dot Design Awards.
Human-Centred Experience - The "simple and elegant" philosophy isn't just about appearance—it's about removing barriers between people and technology. By prioritising user experience without compromising technological capability.
Purposeful Industrial Design - Each element serves both form and function, resulting in devices that enhance professional spaces while delivering cutting-edge video collaboration technology.
Neat Video and Audio Technology
Neat devices integrate several core technologies designed to improve remote meeting quality and room management.
Neat Symmetry: Intelligent Auto Video Framing
Neat Symmetry is a patented machine learning system that uses high-resolution sensors to detect and track meeting participants. The technology maintains consistent video framing regardless of participant positioning—whether they're facing away from the camera, wearing masks, or moving around the room.
It automatically adjusts framing based on group size and participant positioning. When people enter or leave the meeting space, Symmetry recalibrates with intentional delays to avoid distracting camera movements. Dynamic framing follows the natural flow of conversation without manual intervention.
Neat Boundary: Spatial Awareness
Neat Boundary technology allows administrators to define virtual boundaries within meeting spaces. This prevents cameras from detecting and following people outside designated meeting areas—particularly useful in open offices or spaces with glass walls. The system maintains focus on actual meeting participants while filtering out movement of unimportant regions.
Neat Audio Processing
Neat's audio processing addresses common meeting room challenges through several integrated technologies:
Noise Management: Deep noise suppression algorithms reduce keyboard clicks, HVAC noise, and background conversations. Dereverberation technology minimises sound reflections that can make speech unclear in larger rooms.
Voice Optimisation: Beamforming microphone arrays with hardware-accelerated processing focus on active speakers. The system handles simultaneous speech without the audio clipping or muffling common in traditional video conferencing setups.
Neural Network Processing: Real-time audio enhancement uses neural networks to optimise human voice clarity while reducing background noise. This processing remains active even when using personal devices through Neat Select mode.
Neat Sense and Sensor Data: Room Analytics

Built-in environmental sensors monitor temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, air quality (VOC), and occupancy in real-time. This data helps organisations track space utilisation and maintain optimal meeting conditions.
The sensor data provides analytics for facilities management, including occupancy patterns and environmental conditions that affect meeting comfort and productivity.
Ultrasonic person detection automatically powers devices on when someone enters a room and puts them to sleep when the room is empty. Ambient light sensors and accelerometers enable devices to adapt to various room conditions and mounting configurations.
Neat Pulse - Cloud Management Platform

Neat Pulse is the cloud-based management platform for Neat devices. It provides complete oversight of Neat device deployments.
Key Neat Pulse features:

Neat App Hub Mode

Neat App Hub is a feature that enables third-party business applications to be directly accessible on Neat Boards and Neat Frame. Rather than being a dedicated Teams Room on Zoom Room, this turns the board into an application surface.
Neat offers a marketplace of apps, including Robin, Appspace, and Smarten Spaces for digital signage and room booking, as well as collaboration tools such as Slack, Miro, and Mural.
It also provides browser access to enterprise solutions, such as Jira, Salesforce, and Trello. You can also publish custom Web Apps (Requires Pulse Pro or higher).
Managed through Neat Pulse, IT administrators can selectively deploy and control applications across their entire Neat device fleet or specific subsets, enabling customised experiences tailored to different spaces, teams, or use cases.
Neat devices running Neat App Hub mode/applications cannot simultaneously run Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms mode. The mode can be changed remotely by Pulse. Still, it will require re-signing into Microsoft Teams Rooms via a factory reset, so some technical expertise will be required on-site if the device mode is switched.
A Neat Board in app Hub mode may be used alongside a Neat Board or Neat Bar running in Microsoft Teams Rooms mode. Neat Share allows wireless HDMI sharing between Neat devices, which allows the content from one Neat device in App Hub mode to run a third‑party business app (like Miro, Kahoot, YouTube), which can be streamed wirelessly to a separate Neat device in the same room that runs the Microsoft Teams or Zoom meeting as an HDMI share.
The Neat Microsoft Teams Devices Portfolio
The Neat Teams device portfolio includes Bars, Boards, and a Teams Panel.
They also have a personal video device, the Frame. This was a Teams Display, but Microsoft has decided to discontinue Teams Displays (all Teams Displays are End of support September 3, 2025). Microsoft make "commercially reasonable best efforts" to maintain compatibility with the most recent version of the Teams app for two further years, to September 3, 2027. It can also run in App Hub mode.
Neat Bars
Neat has 3 bars in its portfolio:
- Neat Bar (BYOD) - USB-C and HDMI cable into your laptop - Gen 1 Platform now sold for BYOD use cases

Neat Center – Center of Room 360° Companion Camera and Mics

Neat Center ($2,290) is a companion device for Neat Bars and NeatBoards enabling remote meeting attendees to follow the conversation more closely by clearly hearing and seeing everyone in the room, even when those in the room are further away from the primary device or facing towards each other over the table.
Neat Center works with Neat Bar, Neat Bar Gen 2, Neat Bar Pro, Neat Board, Neat Board 50, and Neat Board Pro.
Neat Center connects to the network via Power over Ethernet and pairs with the primary Bar or Board over the network (just like the Neat Pad controller).
Three cameras provide a 360-degree view of the room, and an inbuilt 16-mic array provides additional audio pickup for up to 16.4 feet (5 meters) in all directions.
The Neat Center accommodates various room configurations with three mounting options:
- Freestanding table placement
- Table-mounted with cable management through the table surface
- Ceiling-mounted pendant style via a single supplied strengthened ethernet cable
Speaker Framing emphasises the active or preceding speaker, enabling participants to follow the conversation. The primary Neat Bar or Neat Board, along with Neat Center, identifies the current speaker as well as the subsequent prominent contributor via data from both the cameras and directional microphones.
Neat Focus is a camera framing mode that uses the Neat Center to set camera zones that highlight presenters in designated areas. This ensures the camera prioritises main speakers, like a teacher or executive, without constant reframing.
Neat recently demo’d 2 Neat Centers working together to further extend camera and audio coverage in longer/larger rooms. Expected 2H 2025.
